An unfortunate injury late into the 1st quarter for Andrea meant a big change up to the team for the rest of the game as Andrea needed a static position to continue to be a part of the game.
The team worked so hard, putting extra effort in to bring the ball down the court to goal. Honor dealt with the added pressure so well, not only supporting the ball movement down court, but also with the pressure of ensuring good positioning and taking almost every shot at goal.
Charley, Amy and Jordan showed patience and control to link the mid-court play, playing the ball back to Laura as needed to allow the time for the shooters to position for the feed. When possible, the attack play was finished off by some spot-on feeds under the post into a static, Andrea at GS from Amy, which worked so well. The circle movement by Honor to allow Charley, Amy and Andrea to find her in a shooting position should be applauded…she didn’t give up or tire throughout and showed determination to game end.
The attack were supported down court by Laura who adapted well in GD and played amazingly, hassling the opposition and gaining some intercepts in the circle defence. Sophie’s confidence grew throughout her first game back from injury since October and by Q4 was helping to turnover the possession of the ball for the team.
The result of the game could have been so different if the injury had not occurred and everyone played in their own position (especially if we’d had 2 shooters for all 4 quarters).
Well fought to the team under difficult circumstances ended with a well deserved ICE awarded POM for Honor, closely contended by Laura. A great effort by everyone on court…well done all!
