First County Game of the 2025–26 Season
Omega began their county season with a challenging but encouraging match against Hertford Heath Rangers. This year’s squad has an exciting mix of returning players and new talent, and while it may take a couple of games to fully settle combinations, this first outing showed plenty of positives and plenty of heart.
Quarter 1: Hertford Heath Rangers 12 – Omega 6
Omega’s defensive unit started brightly, producing four interceptions and applying strong pressure across the court. Six goals were converted as the team began to find their rhythm. Although 10 turnovers were conceded, there were clear signs of strong connections developing and confident movement through court.
Quarter 2: Hertford Heath Rangers 27 – Omega 12
Hertford Heath extended their lead in the second quarter, but Omega continued to contest strongly. The team claimed four interceptions and two loose-ball rebounds, showing determination to win back possession. These defensive efforts created opportunities and kept Omega fighting hard.
Quarter 3: Hertford Heath Rangers 38 – Omega 22
This was Omega’s best quarter of the match — a real turning point. Errors were reduced to just six turnovers, and the team produced seven interceptions plus a rebound. Defence and Attack worked tirelessly to break down Hertford Heath’s attack, and Omega matched them goal-for-goal in this period. The whole squad lifted, showing their full potential when connections clicked.
Quarter 4: Hertford Heath Rangers 50 – Omega 28
Omega battled right to the end, but this was a slightly more challenging quarter. Despite this, the team kept applying pressure and created turnovers, showing determination to finish strongly even as fatigue set in.
Team Spirit & Highlights
This game was a testament to the commitment and spirit within the Omega squad:
• Tara (GA) showed incredible dedication, turning up after 13 hours of travel home from her honeymoon — and still produced some brilliant netball on court.
• Laura and Lucy, both unavailable due to injury, were on the sidelines offering encouragement and tactical insight, showing how tight-knit this team is.
• Rhi, usually a WA or C, stepped up to shoot for most of the game, proving her versatility and keeping the scoreboard ticking.
• Georgina (C) picked up some early knocks and scratches but played on like a complete trooper, helping drive the ball through court.
???? Congratulations to Georgina, who was named Player of the Match by the opposition, recognising her grit and leadership on court.
???? Congratulations also to Paige Reeves (GK), who was voted Player of the Match by the team for her excellent defensive work and consistency throughout the game.
Full-Time Score: Hertford Heath Rangers 50 – Omega 28
While Hertford Heath took the win, Omega showed determination, adaptability, and plenty of promise for the season ahead. With strong defensive stats, moments of great attacking flow, and a squad full of fight, Omega are ready to keep building momentum in the coming games.

Omega 1 vs Billericay 2 – ER Fixture 14th September 2025

By | Regional Match Reports | No Comments
What a start to the season for the Regional squad! Today they travelled to Chelmsford to play Billericay 2, who were nudged down from Division 1 to Division 2 as a result of their Prem team being relegated to Regional this season…not relegated due to being bottom of the division 1 table. We therefore expected this first game to be a tough one.
With new players in the squad an changes to the playing positions of some of the historic players, the team were told to play it safe and composed in the opening quarter, to allow the players to settle and gain familiarity within their units.
Throughout the game, the scoreline was tight with Omega holding onto an early lead and maintaining it. The defence unit was on fire, with circle defenders Hayley and Steph stealing many balls from rebounds and interceptions, reading the game well and working their socks off to gain the advantage for their team. Had we have succeeded in capitalising on these gains more, the lead would have been much stronger and the chase would have been harder for the opposition.
In the main, the ball flow was on point during the composed moments of play, however some frantic moments allowed Billericay to remain in the game as they succeeded in punishing us for our errors. However, some amazing passages of play were on display at times, in a fast and furious game.
The feeds to the shooters were superb on occasion, particularly with the sharp eye of Megan Woods, who saw split second opportunities to feed the shooters and delivered with accuracy. Finally, the accuracy of the shooting from Lexi and Georgia, who worked hard to gain familiarity with each other in their debut game together, consistently rewarded the team for their efforts and determination downcourt.
We knew it would be a tough game, but Omega fought hard and worked well as a whole team to contest throughout and they deserved the win they achieved! An amazing final score of 44 – 36 to Omega, a fantastic performance from all players and a great start to a promising season.
Billericay awarded Player of the Match to GS/GA, Lexi….well done Lexi in your debut game with the squad.
