Omega County vs HHR 27th Oct 2024
County Team Faces Tough Loss Against Hertford Rangers
In a challenging encounter, our county team faced Hertford Rangers, ending the match with a disappointing 37-51 loss. From the outset, it was clear that we struggled to find our rhythm, resulting in a slow start that saw us trailing 7-14 by the end of the first quarter. The team found it difficult to settle into their game, with very few turnovers and missed crucial shooting opportunities.
However, the second quarter marked a turning point. Our circle defence began to shine, with impressive interceptions and there was a noticeable improvement in attacking play and shooting accuracy. This resurgence allowed us to narrow the gap to just four goals.
Unfortunately, the third quarter saw a return to unsettled play. The Rangers’ zonal defense posed significant challenges, and we struggled to feed our shooters effectively. As a result, the deficit grew to 15 goals, putting us in a tough position heading into the final stretch.
Despite the mounting pressure, our team displayed resilience in the last quarter. Omega, determined not to go down without a fight, found their form again, matching the Rangers goal for goal.
While the final score does not reflect our capabilities, the camaraderie and talent within the squad remain strong. We’ll take this experience as a learning opportunity, focusing on our areas for improvement in training. With determination and teamwork, we are ready to bounce back stronger in our next match.
Well deserved Player of the match: Laura Robilliard

Omega Regional vs Eastwood 26th Oct 2024
A very physical and quick game for Omega, against Essex based, Eastwood today. Omega’s defence were on fire in the 1st quarter, turning over possession on 12 occasions, however some were short lived as we were unable to take them to goal. A solid opening performance with a leading score of 9-6 to Omega.
2nd quarter, Eastwood fought back hard and Omega did not gain control as much as in Q1, allowing the opposition a chance to remain in the game, close the score and take their first lead. By half time, Omega were down 1 goal and the score was 19-18 as a result of a penalty shot on the whistle, which Eastwood converted.
3rd quarter and it was a battle for every goal from each team. Omega’s circle defence was back on form with many a ball gained in our favour once again. Another winning quarter for Eastwood and Omega knew they had to give their all to regain the game in the final quarter.
A much better performance in the final quarter. with good ball possession, controlled by the mid-court players, ensuring safe passage to goal. The whole team battled hard and gained the win they deserved, with a final score of 48-43 to Omega.
A fantastic, yet nerve-wracking game for those on the bench and our supporters, but great support from them all as the team dug deep and the noise levels increased from the sidelines. Great motivational end of game gathering from captain, Emma Maidment as the girls relished in celebrating their achievement.
PoM awarded by Eastwood to GK, Mary Olivia Ogunseitan. Well deserved with 11 balls won for the team ????

Omega 3 vs Hornets 4 - Mon 21st Oct 2024
Great teamwork from Omega 3 tonight in the Monday night TSNL league at Broxbourne.
They played against a young Hornets 4 side, taking a lead from the off and maintaining it to the end. Strong holds and accuracy from our shooters, good movement and passing down the court from the mid-courters and excellent reading of the game from the circle defence players.
End of game score 52-22 to Omega. Well played ladies (yes, there were 2 more players than in the pic ????)

Omega County vs Wodson Ladies 1 - Sun 20th Oct 2024
Wow…what a performance by the County squad today ????????????????. All sporting their pink in support of ‘Breast Cancer’ weekend with the league.
The team faced the top of the table, Wodson Park 1 today for their county game, so we knew we were in for a tough game.
The first quarter saw strong defensive play from mid court to GK, with 14 turn-overs gained. The opposition were unnerved by the tight and solid play of Omega. A strong opening to the game and an early lead for Omega with a closing quarter score of 9-7 in our favour.
Some team changes going into 2nd quarter unsettled the squad and Wodson began to claw back the goals and turnover the lead and by mid game, Omega were loosing 21-15.
The team reverted to the 1st quarter setup and once again, were on fire. We applied pressure and controlled our play, allowing us to regain our composure and play our game.  The team linked well, taking the ball to goal once more, but some forced feeds at circle edge proved problematic.  Nevertheless, Omega were strong and won the quarter and close the gap in the scores, going in to the final quarter with a 3-goal deficit and score of 31-28.
Final quarter and some fresh legs, once again unsettled the play and as before, Wodson punished us for it as their defence read the game well and hunted the ball at every opportunity.   The game ended 37-48 to Wodson, but the whole Omega squad can be proud of their solid performance today and the team camaraderie.  We did not make this easy for the opposition and contended for the game throughout.
POM is awarded by the team to Tara Pryde….well done Tara ????????????????
The team is gelling well with each game and show so much potential for strongly contending all future games. The future looks bright for this squad, who were newly formed this season????

Omega Regional vs Cottenham Jaguars (Co-Jags) – 19th October 2024

Omega ER vs Co-Jags 19th Oct 2024
What an amazing score for Omega 1 vs Co-Jags in their East Region game today.  Co-Jags were demoted from ER division 1 last season, so this was expected to be a tough game.
The opening minutes were squeaky bum time for Omega as Co-Jags took early control and Omega struggled to settle, but Omega soon composed and levelled the score quickly. By end of the 1st quarter, Omega had a 1-goal lead, but the 1st quarter was not their finest performance.
The 2nd quarter was a totally different story, as Omega were strong on all counts!  The opening 2 minutes were goal for goal, but Omega had an amazing roll of goals, scoring 12 consecutively until the final minute, when they conceded the last 2 goals of the quarter.    Overall, they contained Co-Jags to just 5 goals this quarter and scored 16 themselves, taking a strong lead for the 2nd half of the game.
From quarter 2 onwards, Omega maintained control and patience in their play and were superb with their defensive play, not only from our defence players, but also from the attack players who applied the pressure all the way down court.
Co-Jags fought back in the 3rd quarter in an attempt to close the scores, but Omega proved too strong an opposition.  The quarter started as a battle of goals by each team and ended in the same vein, but the middle of the quarter was another run of 5 consecutive goals for Omega.
The final quarter was similar to the 2nd, where Omega proved a force to contend with, once again applying pressure at every opportunity and turning over possession consistently.  Once again, they limited Co-Jags  to only 4 goals in the quarter and took the final 11 goals on a run, thus preventing Co-Jags gaining a point on the table as they did not achieve half score.  The final score was 56-26 to Omega.
A strong game for Omega and a well deserved win. Every player was consistent in their play and the team pulled together for the entire match. A fantastic game to watch (…after the opening minutes ????).
Congratulations to the Opposition voted Player of the Match goes to GK, Mary Olivia Ogunseitan ????????????????

Omega ER vs Harpenden – 13th October 2024

ER Squad vs Harpenden 13th Oct 2024

Omega ER team face Harpenden in their regional fixture at St Albans today.   Harpenden were demoted at the end of last season, so this was likely to be a tough game.

A ropey opening minutes for Omega as they struggled to settle into their game and Harpenden punished them for this, taking not only Omega’s 1st but also their 2nd centre pass and notching up the goals on the scoreboard.  Omega took time to gain composure and play their game, but in the final minutes of the opening quarter, this was beginning to happen.   The 1st quarter ended with Harpenden leading 13-9.

A much cleaner 2nd quarter for Omega as they applied the pressure defensively and gained control of their play and with that, possession.   Only 1 forced error from Omega  was displayed in their court play  the entire quarter and they succeeded in limiting Harpenden to just 7 goals this quarter, whilst our attack play was on fire, with great linkage down court and interworking in the shooting circle, finished with great accuracy in goal conversion.  This resulted in Omega not only closing the deficit in the score, but taking the lead for the 1st time in the game and by half time, Omega were leading 26-20.

Quarter 3 saw more great play with Omega applying their zone defence and maintaining pressure on their opponents.  A couple of mis-communications in our attack play allowed Harpenden claw back a couple of goals and take the quarter 11-10 and ending the quarter 35-31 to Omega.

The final quarter and Omega are well aware that this game is theirs for the taking, but they must continue to play their game and not allow nerves and tension to set in.    An amazing quarter of netball from Omega as the forced many an error on Harpenden across the entire court and Omega were slick in taking their won possession downcourt to goal on each occasion.  A very accurate shooting quarter too, helping Omega to increase to a comfortable lead and a winning quarter score of 16 – 9 and a final score of 51-40.

A fantastic game, which built throughout the game with composure, patience and skill as the team settled into their play.  A well fought for turnaround from quarter 1 to an amazing final quarter and great win, with every player giving their all.

POM awarded by Harpenden – GS, Georgia Quinton.

Omega County Squad vs Sparks – Sunday 13th Oct 2024

Omega County vs Sparks - 13th Oct 2024

A great day of netball today, starting with the County team at 9.30am, playing Sparks who were in 3rd position on the league table, so we knew we were in for a tough game. However, our county squad held their own, battling for every goal from their centre passes.  The scores were going goal for goal throughout the 1st quarter and with very few forced errors, and several turnovers, Omega kept composure and with patient and controlled play, succeeded in drawing scores in the opening quarter with a score of 12-12.

The 2nd quarter was equally tight and once again, Omega remained composed and contested at every opportunity.  Accuracy in the shooting and clear presenting for feeds from the attack were on display.  The defence were consistently strong as always, with the circle defenders closing down their opponents and gaining possession for Omega regularly.  Another great quarter from the team and another draw of scores, ending the 1st half of the game 23-23…a great achievement.

The 2nd half of the game started a little unsettled in Omega’s shooting end with a blip in what had been a very accurate shooting game.  This allowed Sparks to gain control for the 1st time and start to take the lead.  Again the team contended for possession and the defence were solid as ever, winning several balls, however Omega were not able to capitalise on these wins.  The 3rd quarter ended with Sparks gaining a 7-goal lead going into the final quarter and a score of 32-39.

In the final interval, Omega focussed on remaining positive and fighting for the game as all was not lost at this stage and the win was still within reach.  The team returned to court ready to give their all, which every player did to the end.  They closed the scores to 3 goal deficit and played their hearts out for the much needed 2 points for the league table.

The team displayed signs of greatness today and are growing as a squad with each game they play.  Their confidence and familiarity with each other is beginning to come together and the future is looking bright for this team.  A well fought for game by all and some great displays of netball from the whole squad.
