County Team Faces Tough Loss Against Hertford Rangers
In a challenging encounter, our county team faced Hertford Rangers, ending the match with a disappointing 37-51 loss. From the outset, it was clear that we struggled to find our rhythm, resulting in a slow start that saw us trailing 7-14 by the end of the first quarter. The team found it difficult to settle into their game, with very few turnovers and missed crucial shooting opportunities.
However, the second quarter marked a turning point. Our circle defence began to shine, with impressive interceptions and there was a noticeable improvement in attacking play and shooting accuracy. This resurgence allowed us to narrow the gap to just four goals.
Unfortunately, the third quarter saw a return to unsettled play. The Rangers’ zonal defense posed significant challenges, and we struggled to feed our shooters effectively. As a result, the deficit grew to 15 goals, putting us in a tough position heading into the final stretch.
Despite the mounting pressure, our team displayed resilience in the last quarter. Omega, determined not to go down without a fight, found their form again, matching the Rangers goal for goal.
While the final score does not reflect our capabilities, the camaraderie and talent within the squad remain strong. We’ll take this experience as a learning opportunity, focusing on our areas for improvement in training. With determination and teamwork, we are ready to bounce back stronger in our next match.
Well deserved Player of the match: Laura Robilliard
