Omega County vs Hatfield Eagles 8/12/24
The final game of the 1st half of the Herts County season and Omega meet Hatfield Eagles. Omega are keen for the win against this team who are currently bottom of the table, so the odds are in our favour.
We were hoping for a strong start with a lead created in the opening quarter, but Hatfield capitalised on our errors throughout. We struggled to get the ball to our shooters and also to gain composure in converting the shots and those errors resulted in Hatfield trailing by just 1 goal going into the 2nd quarter, with a 10-9 score in Omega’s favour.
Some changes in positions for the 2nd quarter, resulted in a smoother transition of ball play and more goals on the scoreboard. The defence also tightened, winning more possession which we used to our advantage. The score by half time was 24-17, with Omega having increased their lead to 7 goals.
The 3rd quarter was similar to that of the 1st with forced errors back into our play, which resulted in the quarter being more evenly matched with goals scored. However, Omega maintained and increased their lead to 9, giving them a cushion going into final quarter.
We knew we had the win in sight and the game was ours to take, but we had to maintain composure, play the safe ball and play our way in the final quarter to achieve it. The team worked hard to heed this advise and applied the pressure on Hatfield, resulting in them erroring more in their play. Whilst we also faltered in our game at times, we were consistent in growing our lead by a further 2 goals to end the game with a comfortable 46-35 win and 5 much needed points for the table.
The team awarded GA, Lucy Hoskin our POM.
Well done Lucy and well done the whole squad for working hard to gel and gain familiarity with each other in this first half of the season. The teamwork is beginning to pay off and with continued working together, the 2nd half of the season is looking to be good.

Omega Regional vs Comberton – Saturday 7th December 2024

By | Regional Match Reports | No Comments
The final East Region game for Omega today and they meet Comberton, who Omega failed to conquer in either half of last season, so we were keen to turn the tables on this game.
Omega start very strong in the opening quarter, dominating the play and winning possession on 13 occasions and displayed great teamwork, which helped them to take an early and confident lead of 9 goals and a score of 18-9 going into the 2nd quarter.
Omega are aware they cannot take their foot off the pedal and allow complacency to set in and are advised that they need to continue to battle for everything. But in the mid 2- quarters of the game, Comberton step up a gear and the game becomes more competitive. Omega fail to continue with the consistency of turnovers they had in the opening quarter and as Comberton have tightened defensively, Omega error more, resulting in the mid 2 quarters being a draw in scores, but Omega manage to maintain the 9 goal lead they secured early in the game.
Going into the final quarter, Omega know they have to give their all and play their game to gain the win they want. They settle into their stride quickly and apply the defensive pressure and the turnovers begin once more. The movement of the ball to goal is much more fluid too, creating many more opportunities for the needed goals. A great end to a competitive game and a great 1st half season for the squad, with a well deserved win 61-45.  A strong and confident opening and final quarter, with great teamwork, dominant play and fluid ball passage to goal.
Comberton awarded POM to GS, Georgia Quinton.
Well done Georgia and well done to the whole squad for battling and working together to gain a mid-top end of table position going into the 2nd half of the season.

Omega vs Bengeo Tornadoes – Wed 4th December 2024

OMEGA 4 vs Bengeo 04/12/24

The penultimate fixture for Omega’s local league team in the HDNL Wednesday night league, playing against a merger of Bengeo and Tornadoes historic teams, forming Bengeo Tornadoes.

Bengeo Tornadoes were not able to contain the slick play of Omega and their tight defence.  The first half of the game was a clean slate for the team, with no goals conceded against them and 31 goals scored.  Omega were formidable in their ability to turnover possession, smooth in their linking of the passing throughout the court and finally capitalising on the goals consistently.

In the 2nd half of the game, we introduced rules on our play to use the rest of the game as to train and improve our play generally.  A great performance and a final score of 47-2!

Bengeo Tornadoes awarded POM to GS, Mia Bailey.  Well done Mia!
