Omega 2 vs Hatfield Doves – 7th October 2023

Omega 2 meet Hatfield Doves, both bottom of the Herts league Division 1 table having lost their first County game this season, so each are in need of the win.

Omega settle into the game well in the first quarter and hold off their opposition, although both teams are definitely up for taking the game. However, Omega maintain the lead, ending the opening quarter 13-11.

A change at quarter time sees Paige Boughton replaced by Mollie Knott at WD and the team retake the court.  This quarter Hatfield Doves are contesting more for possession, whilst Omega fail to commit and lack the drive needed to maintain ball possession.   The team dip in their play and Hatfield Doves take advantage, finishing with accuracy at every shot, resulting in a mid game score of 23-17 to Doves.

Half time chat is for Omega to commit to every ball and loose their markers, but once again in the 3rd quarter, their thirst for the ball is lacking and Doves are quick to steal and punish as their confidence grows and Omega’s heads begin to drop.  A disastrous quarter for Omega, with Doves opening up the ir lead to 43-26 by end of the quarter.

The final quarter sees Paige retake the court at WA, in place of Francesca Weekly.   Omega know they have to keep fighting for the ball to the end, to ensure they gain a point for the table.   This they succeed in achieving with the final score of 33-54 to their opposition.

A solid defence performance from Mollie Knott, Julie Stanbridge and Andrea Kinninmonth, but a lot to take from the game in attacking play which the team will take forward to training this week in order to improve their game in readiness for meeting Turnford 4 next weekend.
